Bella’s passion for racing began through her love of horses — long before she ever imagined it would become her career. She started going to the races as a young girl with her Dad, who is an owner and punter, simply because she wanted to be close to horses.
Growing up around horses and spending countless hours at the races, she developed a deep understanding and appreciation for the thoroughbred. What began as curiosity and admiration evolved into the ability to assess these incredible athletes, understand their behaviour, and recognise the small but crucial details that can make the difference on race day.
Since 2021, Bella has worked professionally across multiple areas of the racing industry, including as part of the bloodstock team at Magic Millions and as a mounting yard analyst on Racing.com.
Over time, she has developed her own approach to punting. Working alongside professional punters and learning their craft, helped to create a strategy centred around her strongest skill — assessing horses in the mounting yard. While many punters focus on form, she focuses on the parade.
Today, she is recognised as one of Victoria’s leading mounting yard analysts and has become known for her “lays of the yard” with Betfair. Bella’s approach is simple - provide honest, factual and no-nonsense assessments based on a horse’s appearance, attitude and physical condition.
“My job is to look at thoroughbreds as they parade, and to honestly and unequivocally judge which horses can win and which cannot based solely on their appearance.”
From a young girl who simply wanted to be near horses, she has built a career that allows her to combine passion, knowledge and experience to help racing audiences better understand and wager on these incredible athletes.
