Damien Oliver

Retired Jockey, GOAT, Special Guest

Damien Oliver has achieved just about all there is to achieve in Australian racing. Damien has won some of the most famous races in Australia such as the Melbourne Cup, Cox Plate, Caulfield Cup and the Golden Slipper.

Oliver's riding career started in 1988, and he completed his apprenticeship with his stepfather Lindsey Rudland and Lee Freedman.

Oliver has won the Melbourne Cup three times and completed the grand slam of Australian racing by winning the two-year-old race on the John Hawkes trained Forensics.

In his career Oliver had ridden 3189 winners, including 129 in Group One and he holds the Australian record for the number of Group One victories.

His last race-day was at Ascot in Perth on 16 December 2023. Oliver claimed the last three winners on the Ascot card in Perth before a record 8000-strong Ascot crowd to witness history, as Devine Belief, Magnificent Andy and Munhamek won in glorious succession.

In a career spanning many decades, Oliver’s spectacular career is one of triumph, tragedy, sensation and success.
